OptionsPro Academy
The free options trading course at optionspro.com/learn - what it covers, how lessons are reviewed, and how it connects back to the app.
OptionsPro Academy is the free options course published at optionspro.com/learn. It's open to everyone - no account, no sign-in, no Pro subscription - and it sits alongside these docs rather than inside them: these pages explain how the product works, while the Academy teaches options.
How it's organized
The curriculum is 4 courses, 32 modules and 157 lessons. Each course is broken into modules, and each module into a handful of lessons:
| Course | Level | Modules | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Options Foundations | Beginner | 7 | What an option is, the parts of a contract, reading an options chain, the Greeks in plain English, pricing and IV, placing a first trade, and risk and account setup. |
| 2. Building a Strategy | Intermediate | 8 | Covered calls, cash-secured puts, protective strategies, vertical spreads, risk and reward math, position sizing, trade management, and writing a trading plan. |
| 3. Advanced Strategies | Advanced | 9 | Multi-leg neutral strategies, straddles and strangles, ratio spreads and backspreads, earnings and event trades, calendars and diagonals, an IV deep dive, portfolio-level Greeks, rolling and repair, and finding your edge from your journal. |
| 4. Specialty Modules | Specialty | 8 | LEAPS, short-dated and 0DTE trading, index and cash-settled options, options on futures, sector and macro-event strategies, tax treatment, building a systematic strategy, and tail hedging. |
Three kinds of page make up the Academy:
- The hub at
/learn- every course with its level, its modules and its lesson count, plus a button to start Course 1. - A course page at
/learn/<course>- the course's modules in order, each listing its lessons, and a worked example in the hero card. - A lesson page at
/learn/<course>/<lesson>- the lesson itself, with a course sidebar on desktop, previous/next cards at the bottom, and a compact nav on phones.
There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to save: you read lessons in any order you like, and the Academy doesn't track which ones you've read.
What a lesson looks like
- In this lesson - the objective, stated up front, so you can tell in one line whether the lesson is the one you want.
- Diagrams and worked examples - payoff curves, chain excerpts and concept illustrations are drawn in code rather than pasted in as screenshots, so they stay legible in light and dark mode and on a phone. Worked examples use invented tickers and prices, and say so.
- Key takeaways - the lesson's main points in a short list.
- Check your understanding - a few questions to test yourself, with each answer hidden until you choose to reveal it. It's a self-check for your own benefit; nothing is scored or recorded.
- Common questions - the questions readers actually ask about the topic, answered near the end of the lesson.
- Put into practice - one step you can take with what the lesson just
taught. Depending on the lesson, the button is one of:
- Open the free calculator - the profit calculator at optionspro.com/tools/profit-calculator.
- Start a free journal - sign up for a free OptionsPro account and log trades by hand. See Getting Started.
- Start a 7-day Pro trial - for lessons where broker sync fits. It starts the same trial signup as the Pro card on the pricing page; see Starting a trial from the marketing site.
Payoff diagrams in a lesson can also open the calculator with that exact example preloaded (Open this trade in the free calculator), so you can change a strike and watch the shape move.
Accuracy and review
The Academy is financial education published by Full Throttle Media, LLC, and a lesson is served only after it has been reviewed for accuracy. Every lesson live today has been reviewed. Each one shows a Reviewed by Leon Moyer byline with the date it was last reviewed (plus its publication date, where one is set), and the byline links to the reviewer's profile.
Every page in the Academy ends with the same disclaimer: the Academy is general educational content, not investment, tax or legal advice, and options carry risk that the standard options disclosure document spells out.
How it relates to the rest of the site
- These docs cover the product: Trades, Positions, Risk & Insights and the rest. Start at Getting Started.
- The Academy covers the subject matter. If a doc here uses a term -
delta, IV rank, assignment, rolling - and you want the long version rather
than the one-line definition, that's what
/learnis for. - The free tools at optionspro.com/tools are where a lesson sends you to try the math yourself.
None of the three requires a subscription. See Subscription for what Pro adds inside the app.
