Disconnecting
Permanently remove a brokerage connection and all data imported from it.
Disconnecting a brokerage is a destructive, irreversible action. It revokes SnapTrade's access and deletes everything OptionsPro imported from that broker. Read this page carefully before disconnecting.
How to disconnect
- On the Brokerages page, open the row's action menu.
- Click Disconnect.
- In the Disconnect Brokerage dialog, click Disconnect to confirm. The dialog spells out that accounts and positions data will be removed.
Clicking Disconnect is the only user-facing way to remove a connection, and it deletes everything, as described below. Separately, OptionsPro can put a connection into an automatic Disconnected state when SnapTrade reports the authorization is gone - that's a soft state that pauses syncing but preserves your trades and positions; see Reconnecting for how to recover from it.
What gets deleted
- The brokerage record itself.
- Every connected account under that brokerage.
- Every trade that was imported from those accounts.
- Every position derived from those trades (positions are computed from trades, so they disappear when the trades do).
- The broker's SnapTrade authorization (revoked via SnapTrade's API).
- If this was your last connected brokerage, your SnapTrade user record is deleted as well.
If SnapTrade's API call to revoke the authorization fails, the local data is still deleted so you don't get stuck - the authorization may be cleaned up later or require manual removal from your broker's app permissions screen.
The dashboard and positions caches are recomputed immediately afterward, so any analytics that referenced the deleted data will update on your next page load.
What survives
- Manually-entered trades. Manual trades aren't tied to any brokerage, so they're untouched.
- Other brokerage connections and the trades imported from them.
- Portfolios you've created. They survive even if every trade in them is deleted; the portfolio itself just becomes empty.
Reconnecting later
You can connect the same broker again at any time by clicking Link Brokerage on the Brokerages page. Because this creates a brand-new connection, OptionsPro does a one-time full backfill of the broker's entire available history, not just the last 90 days - so a delete-and-relink does re-import your full trade history. Deleting is still destructive in the meantime (anything you've manually adjusted - fee overrides, portfolio assignments, notes - is lost and would need to be redone), so prefer Reconnecting over deleting whenever the connection is in Reconnect Needed or Error state.
